Time Saving Beauty Tips - Getting ready for a night out.

So today me & my gorgeous friend (and personal trainer) Felicity were on a mission. A mission to get her ready for a night out and shop for an outfit - all in the space of 2 hours!

We succeeded in finding her something to wear. (P.S. this is a woman who knows what she wants and has mastered the art of scanning through racks and spotting what she likes!).

After clothes we proceeded to get her hair done. We needed to get her nails done too and we were running out of time. We were planning on a full pedi spa, then just buying nail polish & varnish remover and doing a DIY instead. It was almost mission impossible until the lovely and very talented Nikki from Perfect Quick Cut & Colour - Roselands suggested that because we were short on time, we could just get a buff - shape & polish. It was so simple and brilliant!

So here are some time saving beauty tips if you have to get ready for a night out.

* Get your hair washed and blow dried professionally.
It saves you the stress and hassle, besides who doesn't love getting pampered? A professional blow dry will also last a little longer.

Save time and money: Buff, shape and polish.
Nails need to be done asap? Skip the extras and ask for a buff shape and polish - you still end up with gorgeous professionally painted nails but cut the price and pedi time down by half.
If you want to splurge a little you can opt for shellac. It'll dry faster and last at least 3x longer than regular polish.

* Wear Thongs/Slipppers
After getting a pedi the last thing you want to do is smudge them by wearing shoes. A handy tip is to always keep a pair in your car.

* Fan your feet!
If you're driving you can switch on the A/C that directs to your feet. Your pedi will be dry by the time you reach your destination :)

* Skip the manicureIf you can, I suggest skipping the manicure. If you're short on time you'll be rushing around and the odds of you smudging your freshly painted nails is very high. If you must, opt for a buff, shape and polish and please choose a light neutral tone on your manicure. One of my greatest beauty rules is never apply dark polish if you're in a rush. At least with a neutral tone, if you smudge it, it's less noticeable.

* Focus on the essentials
Time and money does not grow on trees - Use both well. If you're short on time you really need to work out what needs to be done and prioritise accordingly. This could end up saving you $$$ too. For example by choosing the buff, shape and polish instead of the deluxe pedi spa Felicity saved  $23, paying only $12 instead of $35.

* Don't just buy things when you're short on time and stressed. There's no point buying something just because you're stressed and feel like you've got nothing to wear. You'll end up regretting the purchase. If you've looked around and still can not find anything to wear, don't buy anything. Any outfit can be jazzed up with the right accessories. Accessories are cheap. You won't regret something under $20 but you might regret buying a dress over $100+ that you bought when you were stressed and not thinking right...

* Take time to chill
Remember you're going out to have fun - not meet the Queen. At the end of the day it's all about the company you're with & having fun.

I hope these tips helped. If you have any time saving beauty tips please comment below, or you can comment on my FB page www.facebook.com/LittleMissSCB or catch up with me on Twitter @LittleMissSCB.

Enjoy the happy snaps we took xo.

Lust Have It November 2012

My November Lust have it! box has finally arrived. I am very pleased with this month's contents.

Lust Have It November 2012.
I'm glad they included a beauty bag.
As always a card/note was included from Nicci & The Lust have it! team.  This month we received a make up bag. It was indicated that in future they will be putting a stop to the make up bags and include a collectable packaging instead. I quite liked the make up bags so I hope that the new packaging will be useful.

So here is what I received:

ModelCo Fibre Lashextend Mascara.
The packaging has a mirror on the barrel (not pictured).

1. ModelCo Fibre Lashextend Mascara. RRP $28
This is a new release product and claims to provide a false lash effect from the combined fibres of the rich and glossy mascara.
I'll have to give this a try once my HG mascara (Lancome's Doll Eyes) runs out.

Davroe Colour Senses Ends Repair

2. Davroe Colour Senses Ends Repaire. RRP $20-25
With fortifying rice proteins, hibiscus and sunflower seed extracts this product claims to restore softness and manageability to colour treated hair. This smells so wonderful and I am quite excited to use this on my regrettably damaged hair.

Face of Australia Purifying Cleansing Wipes
3. Face of Australia Purifying Cleansing Wipes. RRP $4.95
Alcohol free make-up remover wipes with dual action cleansers that purify the skin. I have heard great things about this from other beauty blogs so I can't wait to give this ago. I love the convenience of make-up remover wipes.

Lomasi Body Creme
4. Lomasi Body Creme. RRP $22.95 236ml.
I received a 30ml sample of the pomegranate scented body creme. The product claims to moisturise dry skin whilst the pomegranate restores sun damaged skin. I was most excited about this product. It just smells so good - I almost want to eat it! It smells like fresh berries and lollies. The creme applies beautifully and is easily absorbed. Well done Lust have it! I love this!

Star&Rose Hologram Tweezer
5. Star&Rose Hologram Tweezer. RRP $9.95
A colourful slanted tweezer. I have to say I'm not a fan. It's not great in precision removal of hairs and snapped a few strands while painfully dragging some. *shakes head* It was rather blunt and I did not like it. It's cute though, so I'll use it to apply my false eyelashes.

So there you have it. The complete contents of this month's Lust have it! box. No doubt about it, this was a vast improvement to last month's box, however (and there's always a however right? lol) I have to agree with a lot of other bloggers that the brands are getting repetitive (Davroe) and the product brands aren't premium. Whilst I have enjoyed receiving skin care samples I'm more of a make-up girl and I would love more of that. There is another subscription box called Bellabox which I'm keen to try out because I've heard that they include more make-up.

Are you subscribed to Lust have it! or BellaBox? Please let me know what you thought of this month's contents by leaving a comment below or connecting with me through Facebook (www.facebook.com/littlemissscb) or Twitter @LittleMissSCB.

I hope you're having a fabulous November, I can't believe we're so close to Christmas already!

Take care,

NOTD + Butter London Product Review

Instyle magazine's September issue came with a free bottle of nail polish from Butter London. There were two shades two choose from, a red and pinky nude shade. I've really been into nude nails lately so I chose the pinky nude colour, Pink Ribbon.

The nail polish is in a glass rectangular bottle. I love that it's both aesthetically pleasing and easy to hold.

Butter London is famous for its 3 free formula. No Formaldehydem, No Toluene & No DBP.

This is the only colour I have from this brand so I'm not sure if the formula is usually sheer. Nude shades usually come very sheer anyway so I wasn't expecting true bottle colour after 1 or 2 applications. To get an even shade I applied 4 thin coats (allowing about 5-10 minutes drying time in between coats).

PRICEThe nail polishes have a rrp of $22.

All in all, I was quite pleased with this. I wish I got another one as well as the red one because the more I use it, the more I love it.

Did you get this from Instyle magazine too? Have you got other colours from this brand? I'd love to hear what you think of this polish. Let me know by commenting below. Also please visit my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/littlemissscb

Until next time,

Harvest Box Review

Hello friends,

Today is a review on Harvest Box. Harvest box is a snack subscription service.

The concept is good - You're delivered four (4) snack boxes to your home or office how often you like. The cost is $7.95 including postage and handling. You can't choose what you receive but you can rate the products on the website based on your preference. This is the second box I received and unfortunately I will be cancelling my subscription. The snack boxes are quite small for the price. It was definitely fun receiving the packages but I can't justify $7.95 on a small portion of snacks when I can get more snacks for the same price from Woolies.

Still, if you want to give it a go or learn more about the company here's a link to their website: http://www.harvestbox.com.au/

The box I received was a little soaked from the rain but all the snacks were safe :)

Until next time,

Tom Ford Cognac Sable Review and Swatch

After months of consideration I went ahead and bought the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Palette in Cognac Sable and I LOVE IT! One of my all time favourite blogger and youtube beauty guru @Raeview raves about this palette so much that I had to get it.

I bought it from David Jones in Sydney Elizabeth St. when they held the 'Big Week of Beauty' shopping event. I got $30 off on the night so it was only $70 which is awesome because I think they retail for about $75 overseas. Make-up in Australia is way too overpriced so it's exciting when we get things cheaper here. Original price though is $100 AUD.

I was deciding between Cognac Sable and Golden Mink. I chose Cognac Sable as I felt it would flatter my skin tone. However if you have a lighter complexion I think Golden Mink would be absolutely gorgeous on you.

Tom Ford eye shadow palettes are very stylish and the dark brown and gold motif is elegant. The compact is not heavy but it feels quite durable.

It also comes with a Velour Pouch. I'll probably only use this when I take it overseas because it fits tightly over the compact which would only be a hassle for everyday use.

The compact mirror is also quite large which is handy for touch-ups or on the go make up.
It also includes 2 mini applicators.
2x regular sponge applicator
1x slim applicator
1x slanted mini brush.

I personally rarely ever use the applicators provided (except for the ones from Chanel) but having mini applicators are super handy to have specially when you're on the go.

The palette comes with 4 shades.

Top row: The lightest shade (L) is a light shimmer powder perfect for highlighting.
The golden brown shade (R) is an absolutely gorgeous 24k like shade. Placed on the centre of the eyelids this baby is so gorgeous.

Bottom Row: This brown shade (L) is a nice all over shadow or great for blending everything  together. I also use it for a slight contour.

The deep brown shadow(R) is perfect for the outer V. The tiniest amount gives you great shading. For a really intense smoky eye you can definitely build up the shade.

This was a soft smoky look that was demonstrated on me at Tom Ford. This palette is versatile because although the powders have shimmer you can definitely use as little or as much as you want to create the perfect look that you're after.

I will do a tutorial using this palette once all my research papers are handed in and this semester is over =).

PROS (+)  & CONS (x)
+   The elegant packaging is definitely a plus.
+   The large mirror and applicators are handy and travel friendly.
+   The colours are so pigmented and they last for quite a long time.
x   The price is a little hefty but I guess living in Australia we're quite used to that

I'm going to say that although this wears well, for the price this palette would definitely have to be a luxury spend. The shades themselves (apart from the 24k shade) is not much different to other palettes. I would recommend it but If you're really watching your budget I wouldn't consider this a great investment unless you're into luxury make-up or if you're anything like me, a sucker for brands and packaging.

Let me know if you have any Tom Ford Eyeshadows and what you think of them, or if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to leave a comment for me.

Also I'd love to interact more with people so please feel free to say hi to me on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/LittleMissSCB or connect with me through Twitter: www.twitter.com/LittleMissSCB.

Until next time,

Burberry Make-up Launch at David Jones

On the 26th of October 2012, David Jones held the launch for the very first Burberry Make-up counter in Sydney CBD (There's one in Bondi Junction). The launch corresponded with Big Week of Beauty and the David Jones shopping event. We paid a $30 deposit, which included champagne and canap├ęs and it was redeemable on purchases made throughout the night.

On the purchase of two (2) items from Burberry (One being a lip velvet) you got a Burberry make-up pack which included: Burberry make-up bag, Concealer in shade Rosy Beige No.3, Burberry Body fragrance sample, Burberry compact magnifying mirror & a complimentary make-up master class (which I'm excited to use).

I made two purchases from Burberry on the night.

I bought the lip velvet lipstick in shade Antique Pink 303.
It's like a dusty pink/orange brown shade. It's not sheer, which I love because my lips are quite pigmented.
The packaging is in a classy grey magnetic case with the iconic Burberry checkers.

Burberry Lip Velvet in Antique Pink No. 303
The other product I purchased was a deep red lipgloss in shade Ruby No.16.
It's cased in a glassy acrylic holder with a classy and gorgeous top. The lipgloss is not sheer.

Burberry Lip Glow in Ruby No.16
Swatches of Lip Velvet and Lip Glow
