Tom Ford Cognac Sable Review and Swatch

After months of consideration I went ahead and bought the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Palette in Cognac Sable and I LOVE IT! One of my all time favourite blogger and youtube beauty guru @Raeview raves about this palette so much that I had to get it.

I bought it from David Jones in Sydney Elizabeth St. when they held the 'Big Week of Beauty' shopping event. I got $30 off on the night so it was only $70 which is awesome because I think they retail for about $75 overseas. Make-up in Australia is way too overpriced so it's exciting when we get things cheaper here. Original price though is $100 AUD.

I was deciding between Cognac Sable and Golden Mink. I chose Cognac Sable as I felt it would flatter my skin tone. However if you have a lighter complexion I think Golden Mink would be absolutely gorgeous on you.

Tom Ford eye shadow palettes are very stylish and the dark brown and gold motif is elegant. The compact is not heavy but it feels quite durable.

It also comes with a Velour Pouch. I'll probably only use this when I take it overseas because it fits tightly over the compact which would only be a hassle for everyday use.

The compact mirror is also quite large which is handy for touch-ups or on the go make up.
It also includes 2 mini applicators.
2x regular sponge applicator
1x slim applicator
1x slanted mini brush.

I personally rarely ever use the applicators provided (except for the ones from Chanel) but having mini applicators are super handy to have specially when you're on the go.

The palette comes with 4 shades.

Top row: The lightest shade (L) is a light shimmer powder perfect for highlighting.
The golden brown shade (R) is an absolutely gorgeous 24k like shade. Placed on the centre of the eyelids this baby is so gorgeous.

Bottom Row: This brown shade (L) is a nice all over shadow or great for blending everything  together. I also use it for a slight contour.

The deep brown shadow(R) is perfect for the outer V. The tiniest amount gives you great shading. For a really intense smoky eye you can definitely build up the shade.

This was a soft smoky look that was demonstrated on me at Tom Ford. This palette is versatile because although the powders have shimmer you can definitely use as little or as much as you want to create the perfect look that you're after.

I will do a tutorial using this palette once all my research papers are handed in and this semester is over =).

PROS (+)  & CONS (x)
+   The elegant packaging is definitely a plus.
+   The large mirror and applicators are handy and travel friendly.
+   The colours are so pigmented and they last for quite a long time.
x   The price is a little hefty but I guess living in Australia we're quite used to that

I'm going to say that although this wears well, for the price this palette would definitely have to be a luxury spend. The shades themselves (apart from the 24k shade) is not much different to other palettes. I would recommend it but If you're really watching your budget I wouldn't consider this a great investment unless you're into luxury make-up or if you're anything like me, a sucker for brands and packaging.

Let me know if you have any Tom Ford Eyeshadows and what you think of them, or if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to leave a comment for me.
