January 2014 Product Empties

I can't believe that the first month of 2014 is almost over, It seems like January just flew by
I have a mix of product empties from December 2013 and January 2014. Here are the products I've used up within the last couple of months.

January 2014 Product Empties

  1. CLINIQUE  Liquid Facial Soap
My HG face wash. I've been using Clinique's liquid face soap for about 10 years now. I love the simplicity of the 3 step system. I've re-purchased this already.

  2. LUSH Rub Rub Rub: Body Scrub
I've reviewed this product before (click here). It's only $12.95 from Lush stores. What I love about this scrub is that it works well, it isn't very abrasive and smells wonderful. I have already re-purchased this.

  3. SALLY HANSEN Strengthening Nail Polish RemoverAnother HG product that I've re-purchased. I found that this polish remover is strong enough to remove stubborn polish yet still gentle on natural nails.

  4. CLINIQUE Deep Comfort Body Lotion
I got two deluxe samples from a FGWP offer from Clinique a while a go. The full size product is sized at 400ml and priced at AU$52.00. Although I liked the feel of the lotions on my skin, I think the price is a little hefty for a body moisturiser. I get the same results from pharmacy brand products. I won't be re-purchasing this body lotion.

  5. SWISSPERS Nail Polish Remover Pads
These are handy to have when you're travelling. They remove light layers of polish but anything more than two layers will have you using at least 1 pad per nail which is really wasteful. I also found that it's hard to remove all traces of darker polishes. I still have another brand of nail polish remover pads so I won't be re-purchasing these.

  6. CLINIQUE Dramatically Different Face Lotion
I used up a deluxe sample of the original formula for Clinique's Dramatically Different face lotion. I adored the thick-ish formula but the new lighter formula feels a lot better on my face.

  7. LANCOME Bi-Facil Eye Make Up Remover
My favourite eye makeup remover. I haven't tried anything else that removes stubborn mascara easily. I highly recommend this, even though it's pricey it's totally worth it. You only need to use a little bit and it works wonders. I have already re-purchased this.

  8. TYPO Owl Pen
This one isn't a beauty product but it has been the pen I've been using to write with (including post ideas). I love the colour and how cute the design is. Definitely will be re-purchasing this if I see it in stores.

  9. BOBBI BROWN Cleansing Oil Sample
It probably isn't fair to judge a product by a small sample amount (especially because I love Bobbi Brown) but I really didn't find this product that inspiring. It claims to dissolve makeup but It didn't take off my foundation properly. At $60 I think it's a little expensive and considering it didn't really work for me I don't think I'll be buying the full size. If you want to try a smaller size Bobbibrown.com.au are currently selling 30ml for $20.00. Cheaper than forking out $60.00 but I still feel like this is too expensive for a so-so cleanser.

  10. CLINIQUE All About Eyes: Eye Cream
I have quite a few of these from buying multiple fgwp at Clinique. This is my favourite day cream. It's luxurious yet light weight. I won't need to re-purchase this for awhile because I still have a few jars left.

  11. MAC Face & Body FoundationMy first ever trial of MAC foundation. I loved the formula but the shade that I was matched with was wrong. I'll try another shade because I love the light formula and even coverage.

  12. Perfume Atomiser
I bought at imitation Travalo perfume spray and wasted good perfume in the process. The idea was to be able to carry my perfume in a smaller vial but this one was a cheapy imitation so my perfume ended up leaking at the bottom and ruining my bag's lining. Not Happy Jan! but you get what you pay for...

  13. JOHNSON & JOHNSON'S Baby Oil
I didn't actually finish this product which was such a shame because it was a full bottle. Unfortunately the lid was broken. I didn't have the receipt for when Ibought this so I couldn't even return it. Despite the total waste, I bought another bottle of baby oil. It's such a multi purpose product. I use it as a body moisturiser, a base oil for scrubs and as a soothing oil post waxing.

  14. BLOCK & WHITE Antiperspirant
My favourite anti antiperspirant. I buy this from a Filipino grocery store. It doesn't leave white marks on my clothing, keeps the sweats away. It also reduces hair growth (yay!) and helps remove dead skin thus reducing darkening.
And that concludes this month's product empties.
What products have you finished up this month?

Lust Have It! December 2013 Photos and Reviews

Lust have it! have been very tardy with my subscription boxes lately despite collecting payment early... *tsk tsk*.  This box actually arrived last week. A whole month late! After being disappointed by the November box, I was excited to see that the December box contained a full size SunSense anti-ageing face cream. This box contained 3 full sized products which more than covers the monthly subscription fee of $19.95.

December 2013 Lust Have It! box

  1. MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Dream Fresh BB Cream RRP$15.95, 30ml Received Full Size.

I don't have much luck with BB Creams so I was pleasantly surprised that this matched my skin tone reasonably well. The colour I received was medium. It doesn't completely blot the T-Zone area and the pores are just masked so it's not great if you have rather large pores. If you can get a shade to suit your skin tone, it leaves your skin with a "no make-up" look.

  2. MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Dream Fresh BB Cream RRP$15.95, 30ml Received 1ml.
This is pretty much the same as the above but has 2% Salicylic Acid. to help reduce and conceal imperfections. I received the shade medium-light. I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure how well this covers.

  3. URIAGE Refreshing Gel Cream RRP$49.95, 40ml Received 15ml

This moisturiser is suited for normal-combination skin types (yay! for me) and claims to hydrate and moisturise for 24 hours. I haven't tested this yet but it smells light and pleasant and absorbed quickly on the back of my hand without being greasy.

  4. CLAIROL Visible Repair Intensive Mask RRP$13.95, 250ml Received 30ml

Designed for dry damaged hair (just what my poor tresses need) and to be used in the shower. It smells fresh. I can't wait to test this out

  5. SUNSENSE Anti-Aeging Face Lotion SPF 30+ RRP$20.95, 100ml Received Full Size.

I've only recently been protecting my face from the sun's harsh rays (very bad) so this was great for me. As an added bonus it helps to reduce wrinkles and contains AHAs, Vitamins E & B3. It's lightweight and absorbs quickly but it has THAT sunscreen smell that I can't stand, but it's not distracting. It's also made and tested here in Australia.

  6. JOHN PLUNKETT NS-3 Lip Balm RRP$6.45, 10ml Received Full Size.

A natural and organic pawpaw formula, this buttery opaque lip balm provides moisturisers and comfort to dry lips. Definitely a great comfort to chapped lips. One application is intended to last 3 hours. This lip balm doesn't contain petroleum. It's virtually scent free and applies clear on the lips.

Apart from being delivered super late, I have no qualms about this box. It contained a good mix of skin care, makeup and hair care products and apart from Uriage I'm familiar with the brands included in this box. My highlight was defintely the SunSense face lotion.

What was your favourite product from this month's box?

Bella Box December 2013 Photos and Reviews

Another impressive beauty box! The December 2013 contents were awesome and well worth the very affordable monthly subscription price of $15 (including shipping). The stuff included in this month's box are products to get you Summer ready. There was a great selection of skin care products and even a nail polish!

I love the summery print on the card included. Bella Box December 2013
This month also included a Bella Box canvas bag pictured underneath the products.

  1. AVENE D-Pigment Riche Dark Spot Lightener RRP$59.95 30ml Received 3ml Sample.

Age and sun damage can cause those annoying little brown spots (like freckles) on our faces. I never worried about dark spots until about a year a go. I noticed all these spots suddenly appearing! I'm really to blame considering I wasn't more consistent with my sunscreen so I welcome any product that's promising to diminish these spots.

  2. SINFUL COLORS Nail Enamel in #282 Love Nails RRP$4.95 15ml Received Full Size.

Love Nails is a gorgeous metallic-y teal shade. I love polishes from the Sinful Colors range. The polishes are chip resistant and Toleune, Formaldehyde & DBP free!

  3. ROMY Hand and Nail Cream RRP$33.50 100ml Received Full Size.

I received the Eucalyptus & Lemongrass scented cream. Although I haven't opened it yet it, I smell hints of mint through the packaging. The cream has no sulphates, parabens or mineral oils.

  4. ASAP Clearskin Gel RRP$59.00 120ml Received 15ml size.

With a blend of AHAs & BHA, this cleanser scrubs off dead skin cells and aims to smooth and refine the skin. I most likely won't get around testing this for a while because I still have quite a few products to try.

  5. ESLOR Sample Pack
I received a four piece sample kit including a comforting mask, replenishing scrub, soothing cream and the soothing refiner and cleanser. This kit will be perfect for my next DIY home facial.

  6. ST TROPEZ Gradual Tan in Medium/Dark RRP$33.95 200ml Received 30ml size.

This buildable tanning cream is designed to give you a subtle glow without looking like and oompa loompa. I'm naturally tanned so I'm going to give this product away.

  7. PALMERS Cocoa Butter Cleansing Gel & Facial Lotion
This was a bonus sample included in the box. I like Palmers but I might give this a miss and give it away.

And there you have it, the very impressive contents of the December 2013 Bella Box. Even though I'm going to give away a few of the items from this box, it still doesn't take away from the fact that this box is brimming with products and is well worth the $15 subscription. I like that a lot of the products are from brands I haven't heard of. I'm very pleased with this month's box. I highly recommend subscribing to this company. It's only $15 per month and you can cancel any time.

Violet Box December 2013 Photos & Reviews

I have really been loving the things in my Violet Box. The last couple of months have been very impressive. This post is a little late but nonetheless here are the goodies from the December 2013 beauty box...

Violet Box December 2013
  1. SweetPea & Fay Cosmetics RRP $12.99 10g Received Full Size

A hybrid blend - It's a lipstick and a lip gloss in one. Mermaid Kiss is described as a hot neon pink. I didn't open this one because I'm thinking of giving it away.

  2. Jelly Pong Pong Wide Awake Palette RRP $32.00 Received Full Size

It's a Concealer, Highlighter and Eyebrow Palette. The palette comes with a large mirror and dense makeup brush. The concealer and highlighter colours are too light for my skin tone and the "eyebrow" shadows have shimmer in them, which I find odd because brow colours should be matte in my opinion. The colours are pretty enough and subtle enough to be worn during the day. Not a complete fan of this one, but I love that it's a full size product and the eye shadows are still usable.

  3. EVO The Therapist Calming Shampoo RRP$29.95 300ml Received 50ml Sample

I've heard of this brand before but have never used it, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I love the packaging! The scent is fresh and leaves your hair with a subtle hint of fragrance. The shampoo is designed to hydrate hair. It's sulphate and paraben free which is perfect if you have chemically straightened or treated hair.

  4. EVO The Therapist Calming Conditioner RRP$29.95 300ml Received 50ml Sample

This conditioner really hydrated my hair without weighing it down. I love the fresh scent it leaves on my hair and how soft my hair felt afterwards. I'm going to look for this at the beauty supplies store I frequent and see if it's a little cheaper there.

  5. CRABTREE & EVELYN Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy $10.00 Received 25g.

I received the Pomegrante Argan & Grapeseed Scent, which I have to admit I was not crazy for at first but it's actually quite lovely. It's sweet, mildly floral and fruity. The lotion absorbs into the skin without being greasy. I love the packaging and the small hand-bag handy size.

All in all I was super pleased with the December 2013 box, I discovered a new fave conditioner! The box had a good mix of hair, cosmetics and skin products. Violet Box costs $22.95 per month, including shipping. For futher details see their website here: http://www.violetbox.com.au/

Just before Christmas the lovely Jasmine and Melody organised the 2013 Kris Kringle Beauty Swap. These lovely ladies paired us up with another blogger to choose a little gift for and send it off to them. I received my parcel from Bronte. Bronte was so sweet and wrapped up my parcel for me in this cute Christmas packaging.

Mizuya: My Favourite Japanese Restaurant

If you love Japanese food (and you happen to be in Sydney) you must stop over at Mizuya restaurant on George Street Sydney City. I am obsessed with this place and I frequent here often. The ambiance is relaxed, the food is extraordinarily tasty and as an added novelty and convenience, the food is ordered on a touch screen monitor. On the other side of the restaurant there are private karaoke rooms.

Here are some of the delicious food we ordered the last time we ate at Mizuya.

Do-It-Yourself Bling Phone & Kabuki Brush

I'm not a very crafty kind of girl so DIYS aren't really my forte, but as I was browsing the craft section of my local dollar store for note books I came across a pack of diamante stickers and I thought I'd try my hand at blinging up some of my favourite things. I decided to apply decals on my clear mobile phone case and also my kabuki handle brush. The decals cost me less than AUD$4.00 a pack and the whole thing took less than 40 minutes. Blinging up my phone took up the bulk of the time. All in all it was a fun and easy arvo activity. The decals didn't end up sticking well on my mobile phone because it caught on to things in my hand bag. I suggest using hot glue before applying the decals for a better hold.
